Sherpas
Sherpas play a vital role in any Mt. Everest expedition. In fact, without them, the endeavor would be virtually impossible. In addition to their strength, stamina, mountaineering abilities and their tolerance to high altitudes, Sherpas are hired to carry supplies and to act as guides, and rescuers, if necessary. The following six Sherpas, all very experienced climbers, will be making the summit attempt with Ben Webster and Nancy Feagin in May 2001.
