A dedicated professional with a strong sense of commitment, Lara Sergovich has, at the age of 28, already proven her ability to learn quickly. This is a knack she'll need time and again as she meets the demanding objectives of Base Camp Manager, the same role she ably performed during Canadian Everest 2000 Expedition Lara has strong leadership qualities as well as finely tuned interpersonal and communication skills. With a degree in Engineering Science, Lara naturally pays attention to details (and there are thousands of them on an expedition of this magnitude!) Intelligent, resourceful and an excellent problem solver, Lara is also the adventurous type (which is why this job appeals to her so much!)

What's the Base Camp Manager do?
The answer is… many things! But the main responsibility of Base Camp Manager is to ensure that things run as smoothly as possible for the climbers, the team at Base Camp and the sponsors.

Some (but not all) of Lara's responsibilities include:
Coordinating the set up of base camp with Team Leader.
Arranging for needed supplies before and during expedition.
Taking instructions from climbers on the mountain to help facilitate their needs.
Scheduling (and re-scheduling as plans change) chat lines, interviews, etc. between climbers and sponsors.
Maintaining radio contact with climbers on the mountain; relaying latest info from radio calls to team members at base camp and others as required (sponsors, etc.).
Obtaining and interpreting weather forecasts for climbers on the mountain.
Relaying requests of team members to leader or Nepali outfitter as required.
Overseeing satellite transmissions.
Acting as liason between team members and technicians.
